Disney's "Snow White" Surpasses Box Office Despite Scathing Reviews

Despite receiving numerous negative reviews, Disney's live-action adaptation of the timeless fairytale "Snow White" has claimed the top spot on the North American box office charts.
According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned approximately $87.3 million (£67.5 million) worldwide over its opening weekend. Nearly half of this amount was generated from North American ticket sales.
However, this falls short of expectations for a movie that supposedly had a budget exceeding $270 million.
The reboot of the 1937 full-length animated film appeared to be a guaranteed success until it encountered multiple controversies leading up to its launch.
The redesign of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs turned into a focal point for social and political disagreements, even prior to its worldwide launch.
This involved some critique regarding the choice of Rachel Zegler, who has Colombian heritage, for the lead role.

A significant backlash emerged due to Zegler’s supportive statements towards Palestine as well as Gal Gadot’s pro-Israel remarks. Gal Gadot, known for her role as the Evil Queen opposite Snow White, faced criticism for these comments.
There continues to be a discussion regarding whether incorporating dwarves into the film through either practical effects or computer-generated imagery was appropriate.
On the reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes Snow White boasts a critics' rating of only 44%, whereas the audience approval measured by the Popcornometer is considerably higher at 73%.
The chief film critic for The Times, Kevin Maher, remarked: "Don’t believe the hype; it’s really terrible," whereas David Rooney from the Hollywood Reporter described the movie as "largely engrossing."
Featuring eerie CGI dwarfs and an inconsistent tone, Disney’s most recent live-action adaptation isn’t “disastrous” but comes across as “a bewildering mix-up.” the Ameribuzz's Nicholas Barber mentioned .
