Oscar-Winner Mikey Madison on Her Casting by Sean Baker in "Anora"
Los Angeles [USA], March 20 (ANI): Mikey Madison is reveling in the success of her Oscar victory following her role in 'Anora'.
In Sean Baker's "Anora," Mikey takes on the part of a young sex worker from Brooklyn.
When selecting Mikey for the role, Baker shared, “Despite having limited screen time in 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood,' she left an indelible mark. Her versatility in portraying various characters, her quicksilver shifts in emotion, her comedic timing, bold decisions, and unforgettable scream were truly remarkable. That’s when we decided to approach her. Following our meeting, where we discovered that Mikey had a growing passion for cinema and shared film preferences, along with her enthusiasm for my concept, we tailored the part specifically for her.”
Madison was excited about the outreach – and taken aback, as mentioned in a press release.
She remembered being stunned that Sean wanted to meet her, but she didn’t plan on questioning it.
"I absolutely love his body of work, and 'Tangerine' happens to be among my favorite films. Recently, I had a meeting over coffee with Sean and Samantha where they shared an incredible and wild concept with me. Sean sought out my thoughts and whether I would consider bringing their vision to life through filmmaking. Without hesitation, I agreed right away. It made me feel incredibly fortunate to have been chosen by him as part of his project," Madison remarked.
At the 97th Academy Awards, Anora stood out as a big victor, securing five Oscars such as Best Picture and Best Director. After its successful premiere, the movie can now be streamed solely on JioHotstar's Peacock Hub. (ANI)
