In an interview with ITV Sport, James shared his delight at being back in the England team after a disappointing two-year period, calling his selection a major milestone.

After scoring the free-kick, he acknowledged that he noticed the wall and thought he could bend the ball past it. However, he was somewhat astonished when it actually ended up in the goal.

"I spotted the wall and believed I could curve it successfully. Fortunately, it struck the crossbar instead. Initially, I was astonished that it went in—the goalkeeper appeared to have a good shot at saving it—but upon reviewing the footage, it looked quite challenging for him," as reported by ITV through the Mirror.

He further highlighted that Tuchel’s concepts are well-defined and mentioned that the squad's primary aim starts now and runs all the way up to the World Cup.

Tuchel conveyed his appreciation for James, mentioning that he has a deep understanding of him and deems his talent to be remarkable.
